Purpose

These terms govern the use of the SailingLoc demonstration platform, which simulates a peer-to-peer boat rental marketplace connecting owners and renters.

Account and eligibility

Creating a demonstration account requires providing an email address and, for elevated roles, a phone number. All accounts and data are for testing only and may be reset at any time.

Roles

Renters can search for boats, simulate bookings and leave reviews after a completed rental.

Owners can list boats, manage availability and upload contractual documents.

Administrators oversee the platform. Roles are assigned within the demonstration only.

Bookings and payments

Bookings use Stripe in test mode. No real money is charged and no real reservation is created. A 10% platform commission is recorded for demonstration purposes only.

Cancellations

Because no real transaction occurs, cancellation and refund rules are simulated and carry no financial consequence.

Acceptable use

Users must not attempt to misuse the demonstration, upload unlawful content or disrupt the service. Test data may be removed without notice.

Changes

These terms may change as the academic project evolves. Continued use of the demonstration constitutes acceptance of the current version.
